Alumni Dentist encourages Students at UNC-P
Dr. Bobbi Stanley, of Stanley Dentistry in Cary, North Carolina, is passionate about dentistry and her fervor shows every time she is asked to speak about dentistry to young people.
Dr. Stanley was invited to return to her alma mater of University of North Carolina at Pembroke to speak with a group of undergraduate students about her profession and her career path. She gave a presentation on dentistry to a lecture hall full of Biology students. She shared before and after smile makeovers of her patients and explained how a new smile can make people mentally and psychologically healthier. Dr. Stanley told the students, “The best thing about dentistry is that you get to change lives! Every day, I am able to make my patients healthier by giving them, not only a healthy mouth, but also a beautiful smile.”
Dr. Stanley also discussed the challenges and path of becoming a professional. She encouraged the students to make goals and write them down. Dr. Stanley said, “I have my goals written and placed on my bathroom mirror so I can see them each day. This helps me to focus on my goals daily.” Alison DeCinti, Assistant Director in the Advancement office at UNC-P, invited Dr. Stanley to speak to the students. Mrs. DeCinti said, “It is obvious that Dr. Stanley is passionate about dentistry. She had each of the students hanging on every word. Many of them stayed after her presentation to ask personal questions and get more information from Dr. Stanley.” After her presentation, Dr. Stanley was guided on a formal tour of the campus as well as lunch in the university cafeteria.
Stanley Dentistry was established in 1995 by Dr. Bobbi Stanley and her husband Dr. Robert Stanley. It is one of the oldest, comprehensive dental practices in the state of North Carolina.View All News
