Cary Dentist Updates Dental Skills in Pediatric Dentistry
Dr. Bobbi Stanley, Stanley Dentistry’s very own family dentist in Cary, NC, attended “The Top Ten Excellence in Pediatric Dentistry”. Dr. Jeffery Gallager presented the pediatric dental course at the New Jersey Health Professional Development Institute. The children’s dentistry course was designed to provide the latest development in pediatric dentistry. Over the years, dentistry for children has improved with the development of new technology and materials.
“Instead of giving the old time shots, we now use technology called The Wand. This computerized injection procedure allows us to give pain-free injections to not only our pediatric patients, but also to our adults,” states Dr. Bobbi Stanley. Other developments include white fillings used for primary teeth that help to keep the teeth strong and mineralized.
With the changes in pediatric dentistry, children now have the option of having, not only healthier teeth, but also beautiful white teeth with complete comfort in the dental office.
The American Dental Association recommends that children have their first dental visit around age one. When a young child visits the dentist for the first time, the dentist will examine the teeth, gums and mouth and clean the child’s teeth. S/he will also review proper home care with parents and/or caregivers. Dental appointments like this serve to establish a comfort level for a child’s dental visit and can help set the course for oral hygiene and maintenance for a lifetime.
