February is National Children’s Dental Health Month!
February is National Children’s Dental Health month. In celebration of this important yearly reminder, Stanley Dentistry is once again partnering with area schools with our Tooth Fairy outreach program.
This is the 2nd year of the community partnership and it has been a great success. “There is a public perception that the dentist is a scary place, “ said Dr. Bobbi Stanley. “If we can educate young children on good oral hygiene, we can often encourage a lifetime of healthy habits.” “Having our beautiful tooth fairy visit them has been a way to connect on their level and we’re getting great feedback from the children, as well as, teachers and parents.” As a mom of four, Dr. Bobbi knows firsthand how difficult consistent, good hygiene can be. Dr. Stanley continued, “As a dentist and as a parent, I want to do everything possible to avoid childhood cavities. Oral hygiene education is the key to happier dental visits for everyone, especially children.”
The program consists of a 15-minute presentation that focuses on eating healthy snacks, brushing, flossing and visiting the dentist regularly. Each child is then given a new toothbrush, toothpaste, flossers and a coupon for a free dental exam at Stanley Dentistry in Cary NC. For some children, this may be their first visit to the dentist. Since the tooth fairy invited them, they are excited for this new experience. It has been a win-win-win. Children want to visit the dentist, parents are not heartbroken over reluctant or upset children and dentists can have a positive interaction with their smallest patients.
