The Green Chair Service Project
This year, Stanley Dentistry participated in “The Green Chair” service project with The Wake County HBA Remodeler’s Council to help give back to their local community.
The Wake County HBA Remodelers Council along with many dedicated volunteers worked to renovate The Green Chair so they can continue to serve those in need. Stanley Dentistry donated around $2,200 worth of overhead lighting to help complete the renovations. As you can see, the transformation is beautiful! This renovated space will be able to make a greater impact in serving the community and be more efficient in donation processing and accommodating guests and volunteers.
After opening their currently facility in November of 2011, The Green Chair Project staff and volunteers have been giving home furnishings donated by the community new life. Donations go to families and individuals who are in periods of transition from homelessness or disasters into secured sustainable housing. Staff and volunteers carefully clean and preserve donations while volunteers make repairs so that donations can be given to families with dignity and respect. Donations range from sofas to bedrooms, to dishware and home accessories. During peak periods, The Green Chair Project home base can house as many as 40 volunteers.
However, their current layout was lacking in space and water. With only one sink available inside the entire 36,000 square foot space, everything requiring water had to run through that one sink, including making coffee, filling mop buckets, and clean and prep donated furniture and accessories.
Using donations, the Wake County HBA Remodeler’s Council and volunteers transformed the space into two new kitchens, two bathrooms, and added curb appeal for the Green Chair Project.
The Green Chair Project is a local charity that provides house furnishings to individuals and families who have lost their homes or belongings. They help people in the community transition from homelessness or disasters into a comfortable home environment.
We are happy to help lend a helping hand to a non-profit that does so much to help in our community!View All News
