5 Reasons Why You Should Consider Getting Veneers

Dental veneers can transform almost any smile, making them brighter, symmetrical, and more resistant to tooth decay.

Veneers are the crowning achievement of the cosmetic dentistry world. They can transform almost any smile, making them brighter, symmetrical, and more resistant to tooth decay. Porcelain veneers, compared to composite veneers, are long-lasting, stain-resistant, and look spectacular. Besides the fact that veneers are more expensive than whitening or bonding, there really isn’t a downside to them. I recommend them to anyone who’s struggled with their smile confidence in the past or for anyone who’s tried other cosmetic dentistry services with little success. I’ve already listed a few of the reasons why I think veneers are the best of the best but here are the top five reasons why you should consider getting veneers:

1. Quick, pain-free procedure

Prior to a veneers delivery, we numb the mouth (we can also use stronger sedation if the patient chooses) to make the procedure as painless and easy for the patient as possible. Depending on the case, the procedure may take thirty minutes to a little over an hour to complete. For no-prep veneers, the procedure is especially fast since they don’t require any prep.

2. Fewer cavities

If you already have a lot of dental decay, veneers will not fix the decay. You need to speak with your dentist and make sure you get any necessary fillings, root canals, or extractions before going in for a veneers consultation. It is very important to remember that veneers are strictly cosmetic.

With that being said, properly placed veneers do make your teeth more decay-resistant. Because there is very little of your tooth’s natural surface available for bacteria to cling to, the likelihood of getting a cavity on the teeth that are covered with veneers is slim.

3. Instant symmetry

What makes a beautiful smile? A lot of factors go into perfecting a smile like shade, shape, and, perhaps most importantly, symmetry. Because your smile is often times the first thing people notice when they look at you, little inconsistencies in the gum line or the tooth shape can register as particularly noticeable. Veneers are a quick and easy way to get a symmetrical smile in just a couple of appointments. We’ll take a few scans of your smile and make a set of temporary veneers, to ensure that the fit and symmetry is perfect. If you don’t like the way the temporary veneers look, we can make a new set. Once you’re in love with your new smile, we’ll get the permanent veneers made.

4. Choose your shade

Another important aspect of smile design is shade. With veneers, you can choose exactly what shade you want, from Hollywood white to a more natural color. We typically recommend a shade that will blend in with the appearance of your other teeth (the ones that are not covered with veneers) but at the end of the day, the choice is yours.

Porcelain veneers are less porous than natural teeth so they’re slower to stain. We also coat the veneers in a thin layer of stain-resistant resin that helps keep your veneers bright and white for longer.

5. Longevity

Veneers don’t last forever but they do last a pretty long time. Thanks to modern lab methods, porcelain veneers are stronger and more resilient than ever. With proper care and maintenance, your veneers should last around twenty-five years. When your veneers start to look discolored or begin to crack, it may be time to look into getting a new set. By that time, we’ll probably have some new technology that makes veneers even easier to make and wear!

Bonus: You can finance them

Depending on your budget, veneers can be expensive which is why we offer interest-free financing options. You can pay for your veneers over an extended period of time to ensure they don’t impact your regular finances.
